Rich - Sunday Miles: 7.5
I set my own personal treadmill distance record of 7.5 miles yesterday and feel pretty good about it. A lot of people hate running on the treadmill for various reasons - lack of moving scenery, having to run a consistent pace, narrow treads, the whirring noise, fear of slipping and shooting off the the back of it (yes, it's happened to me many times.)
I actually don't mind running on the treadmill that much. Maybe I would feel differently if I ran an entire 26.2 mile marathon on it. Yeah, that would be really tough.
Then again, I'm thinking it wouldn't be as tough as running an entire 26.2 mile marathon on a treadmill - IN SPACE - like astronaut Sunita Williams did in April 2007! Since she couldn't be there in person to run the Boston Marathon, she instead ran it on the space shuttle TETHERED to the treadmill. How cool is that?
I challenge anyone to share a better treadmill running story than that!
Treadmill Training: It could be worse!

Well I can't beat that for a treadmill running story. I did have a string of treadmill training runs while traveling alot last summer - working around the 30 min limitation on the time and other items. I even recorded a run on my iRiver for The Extra Mile Podcast. I used to be fine with treadmills but lately it is just too tough.
It was always a better option than not running at all. I am not sure what I would do if I lived up north and needed to train.
I have done up to 10 miles on the treadmill while trying to avoid a sandstorm in Iraq but I can't say it's my running place of choice.
It's almost as exciting as listening to automatic gunfire and car bombs while running inside the concrete walls of the compounds in Baghdad.
As I train for this current marathon I am trying to see how many different states and countries I can log runs in!
You guys are doing great at this point and by spring/summer when you start your actual training plan you will be in awesome shape.
Keep up the good work and remember just log some miles doesn't have to be anything huge at this point.
