Still Running In Place

Yeah... knew this week would be tough. NO running - a lot of running around. Boo hoo. Hoping to do something on Friday AND Saturday - but Saturday will be a definite.

Runners reading - how bad is it to take off four days?! I should be ready to run like Forrest Gump, don't you think?!

It is what it is....all you can do is just start right back up. Just be careful not to build up too quickly trying to "catch up." Keep the 10% rule in mind - no more than 10% increase in mileage a week.

We all have those periods of time during training. You just pick it back up and press on! So don't beat yourself up too badly. Having a career, a family, and marathon training are bound to conflict from time to time!

stumbled on your blog while looking for new running podcasts...what a treat! my stepson and i ran dublin last year...his first, my 17th...and we had a blast. it is by far my favorite of all 17.

just wanted to offer encouragement and advice whenever you may want or need either or both.

my blog has some running stuff on it, in case you'd like to read that at http://overfiftyish.blogspot.com.

next up for me...eugene and chicago this year. happy running, my friend.

Michael B - Thank you for your comments and for visiting us. We will definitely check out your blog and would LOVE to hear more about your experiences. Also, what did your son think of the marathon as his first? Overwhelmed? Better or worse than expected, etc.?

17 marathons is inspiration for us to a) not whine, b) keep going, c) know that we'll live and d) um, again, not whine! :-)
